This Agriculture FCU Review is to get to know and understand what and who Agriculture Federal Credit Union is. This will be especially helpful for people new to the DC area and are on the lookout for local institutions for financial services.
Agriculture FCU has been in operation since 1934. Currently, it has over twenty-two thousand members and over $200 million in assets. AFCU is a not-for-profit cooperative democratically run by people who have banded together to give members a better deal than what is being offered by profit-driven financial institutions. They offer competitive bank rates on share savings account, share draft checking, high yielding share certificates, home banking and online bill pay, and home equity loans just to name a few. AFCU operates 4 branches within the Washington, DC area, 1 branch in Riverdale, MD, and 1 branch in Alexandria, VA. AFCU ATMs are also found in these areas.
Eligible for membership are persons who work, worship, volunteer, attend school in, and business and other legal entities in the District of Colombia; employees, employee family members, and persons retired as pensioners or annuitants of AFCU’s select employee group (SEG) companies and organizations; contractors who work with AFCU’s SEG companies, co-workers, and family members; and individuals who are or become members of CityDance Ensemble.
Family members include spouse, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, stepparent, stepchildren, and stepsiblings. Household members and domestic partners are also eligible to join and are defined as persons living in the same residence and who maintain a single economic unit. Any person who is a permanent member of and participates in the maintenance of the household, and their immediate family members of each member in this household could also join.
For a limited time, AFCU is giving existing members a $15 gift card for every new member they refer and there is no limit to the number of referrals you may make. Your friends, family, and co-workers will also get $5.00 when they become a member. Moreover, if you open a savings and a checking account online, $5.00 will be credited to your savings account.
